Our House Exterior Plans

When we bought our house in 2021 there was not a single plant in the yard, not one! And the house was painted my least favorite color, peach. Needless to say, we knew we had a project on our hands! Jonah and I really love gardening and spending time in the yard during the summer. We love walking around the neighborhood looking at different homes facades and their landscaping, so we want to have a home that stands out while others are taking a stroll, too. 

Before

A Good Foundation

My favorite thing about our home exterior is the stone facade of the home. It gives it immediate curb appeal and I knew that it would look gorgeous with the right landscaping and paint. We already put up a cedar fence in when we moved in and we are planning to get a new roof this summer too. We had a bad hail storm last year that damaged our roof so insurance is stepping in to help, which is great because we have had TWO leaks since moving in. We are lucky that all of the stucco and trim is in great condition, so all it really needs is paint!

Inspiration

Chris Loves Julia’s Home has been my inspo since before we bought the house. The stone with the black is just chef’s kiss. Our landscaping will be much different but the overall feel of the house itself is what we are aiming for.

Mock-up

Can you see it?! We are going to be painting all the trim and stucco Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams. It’s a lovely soft black that will make all of the stone and landscaping pop. We are planning to paint the vinyl windows black as well, which is controversial for sure. But we are planning to replace these windows while we live here (they are bad quality). So it doesn’t matter to me if the paint doesn’t last for a decade. The roof is going to be dark grey, so will be a lovely compliment to the house color. We will be painting with the help of my in-laws. My father-in-law has been painting homes in the summer for decades!

My husband Jonah is doing ALL of the planning for the front yard landscaping since he is passionate about it and I trust him completely with it. So more on that to come when we make decisions on this!
