Inspiring Blue Bedrooms

I'll be the first to say that I didn't always love the color blue. As a matter of fact, I hated it for a really long time. Mainly because I had to share a room with my sister for 17 years and her favorite color was blue! We each got to pick a paint color for two walls in our bedrooms, I chose purple and she chose blue. And you really are not supposed to like what your older sister likes! But now I'm older, wiser and have better taste. I'm looking to paint our guest room a beautiful blue and bring in layers of pattern and antiques into the space. Below are rooms that inspire my design for my guest room.

Room #1: Red and Blue, the perfect duo.

I can't get enough of red and blue living together in spaces. It's all about balance, but these two lively colors compliment eachother so well. I love how they used different tones of each color to make it feel more layered. Also bringing in pattern on pattern in the bedding, a great example of staying in one color but playing with scale. 

Room #2: A historic blue hue.

I have to say that Oval Room Blue by Farrow and Ball may be my favorite blue tone. It’s perfectly timeless! It can work with modern pieces but also pieces that are 100+ years old. I particularly love how this designer paired it with a light olive green duvet. I also love that all of the moldings, walls, and ceilings are drenched in this beautiful tone.

Room #3: A lesson in using color in a modern way

I think a lot of people get nervous about using color when they want a space to feel modern. White is the go-to for making a space feel modern, but this designer turns that on it’s head but pairing this blue with all modern pieces. A true example that modern interiors can and should be colorful.

Room #4: Blue on Blue Trim

We’ve already established that I love a good red and blue combo (heart eyes!), but I think it’s the layering of blue tones here that makes this room extra special. It gives it depth and gives your eye places to travel in the room. I’m personally obsessed with this headboard and bedding combination..

Room #5: Moody Blue

It’s safe to say I love a moody room and Inchrya Blue from Farrow and Ball really sets the tone for this space. A perfect compliment to the wood tone of the floors, this blue feels rich and elegant. I love that they painted everything in this hue, which is so perfect for a room where you want to feel relaxed.
